Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth in the advanced robotics and automation space for the manufacturing sector. This role will lead proposal development efforts for complex technical solutions, forge strategic customer relationships, and identify new market opportunities across a range of industrial manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of robotics applications in manufacturing and excels in both strategic sales and technical proposal leadership. This position will report directly to the CEO and work across the organization to achieve results.

Responsibilities

Proposal Development & Capture Strategy:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of technical and commercial proposals for robotics and automation solutions, including responses to RFPs, RFQs, and customized client pitches.
  • Coordinate with engineering, product, legal, and finance teams to craft solutions that meet customer requirements and align with business goals.
  • Ensure proposals clearly communicate value propositions, ROI, and competitive differentiation.
  • Maintain a proposal calendar, manage timelines, and oversee content quality and compliance.

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with manufacturing clients across key sectors (e.g., DoD, aerospace, heavy industry).
  • Serve as the primary interface for client accounts, understanding operational pain points and positioning tailored robotics solutions.
  • Lead client meetings, technical demonstrations, and site visits to uncover needs and grow account value.

Market Development & Strategic Growth:

  • Identify and qualify new opportunities in emerging areas of robotics deployment, including autonomous robots, AI-driven automation, and mobile robots.
  • Monitor trends in industry, robotic technology, and automation to guide product positioning and market entry strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and consortiums to build brand visibility and stay connected to market shifts.

Reporting & Pipeline Management:

  • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and deliver accurate forecasting and performance reports.
  • Work closely with leadership to support strategic planning, revenue targets, and go-to-market initiatives.

Contract Negotiation Support:

  • Assist in the review and negotiation of commercial terms and conditions for new contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Collaborate with legal and executive teams to ensure terms are aligned with company objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Support deal structuring and pricing strategies to ensure mutual value creation for both the company and the client.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Robotics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of business development experience in the robotics, automation, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and factory automation systems.
  • Proven track record in leading successful technical proposals and negotiating high-value contracts.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling or integrating robotic arms, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), or vision systems.
  • APMP certification or experience with structured proposal frameworks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DoD Acquisition, JCIDS, and PPBE processes.
  • Technical aptitude to translate customer needs into system-level solution concepts.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

Travel

  • Travel up to 30–40% for customer visits, site assessments, and industry events.
