Your Role
As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop and deploy robotic harvesting systems onsite at greenhouses across the globe and directly contribute to harvesting the produce you see on your grocery store shelves.
What you’ll do
- Embrace cradle-to-grave ownership of projects, taking responsibility from the initial concept and design phase through manufacturing, testing, and product lifecycle management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of system-level electrical architecture, encompassing power distribution, motion control, safety systems, I/O topology, and interconnect strategies.
- Select and evaluate electrical components – including controllers, drives, sensors, harnesses, and connectors – based on performance, cost, reliability, regulatory compliance, and supply chain resilience.
- Design and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and custom PCBAs for core modules and distributed I/O hubs.
- Architect and implement fieldbus communication strategies using EtherCAT, IO-Link, and other relevant protocols to support modular subsystems.
- Design smart power distribution strategies using PCBA-based PDUs, including voltage conversion, fusing, and telemetry integration.
- Evaluate tradeoffs between integrated motors, panel-mounted drives, and PCBA-mounted motor control solutions to optimize cost, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ensure all designs conform to applicable safety and EMC standards, such as IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL, and CE requirements.
- Define and execute test plans and diagnostics for electrical subassemblies, including failure mode analysis and recovery strategies.
- Support transition to production by collaborating with operations and contract manufacturers to apply best practices in DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFS (Design for Serviceability).
- Develop and deploy electrical test fixtures, simulators, and service tools to validate systems during build and in the field.
- Write clear, structured documentation including system requirements, functional specifications, test protocols, and verification procedures.
- Perform root cause analysis of electrical issues across development and fielded units, and lead the implementation of corrective actions and design improvements.
